Why do you think this is the case? If you were a small business owner would you want to expand your reach globally? What opportunities and challenges does participation in a worldwide marketplace have on your business? The United States is an industrialized nation. Our national industries are diverse and developed and because of that we enjoy a high standard of living relative to many other countries. Countries with lower standards of living are considered to be emerging or developing nations. What factors prevent developing countries from becoming industrialized? How might they begin moving in that direction and what are the responsibilities of more established nations in assisting developing nations?
