Secular Humanism:1.What practical steps could be taken to build a relationship with a follower of this worldview who might be a co-worker, neighbor
Currently we leave in a world where there exists a great war going on in the societies where we live. There are evident battle fronts and various aspects of the war but the primary war is the war between Christianity and secular humanism. Secular humanism is a philosophy of life and religion which observes man as a universe supreme being thus rejecting the existence of God and the supernatural world. They also view moral values to be relative as they keep changing and varying between individuals (Hall, 2005).Therefore as a Christian, one need to create awareness by educating the co-worker or neighbor that God is the creator of all universe and life including the human beings and quote verses in the Bible that support your opinion and come up with a form of discussion comparing the two religions where each is allowed to give his views.
Q.2.What barriers/hindrances would exist when presenting the Christian gospel to a person from this worldview?
The identity, the purpose, morality and destiny of the religion are among the barriers that may exist when presenting the Christian Gospel to a person from the Secular Humanism because they contrast. Based on identity, Secular humanism believes that they are nothing more than an advanced animal and their purpose is to pursue temporal happiness where as their moral is to build a more humane society via ethics that are based on human while their destiny is to leave a legacy behind after they die. On the other hand Christianity believes that God is the creator of life where as the Secular humans do not believe in the existence of God. In contrast to the idea of secularist that human being are animals, the Bible asserts that we are special creation created in the image of God. The purpose of Christianity is to know and understand God, to love and serve one another and the moral is to build a society that is based on the natural values while the Christian destiny is the hope for the eternal kingdom (Weider & Gutierrez, 2011, p. 61).
Q.3. what personal challenges might you have with presenting the gospel
One may receive opposition when trying to preach the Christian gospel to this particular world view as they are completely parallel in terms of their views. One also has to spare more time and energy in order to educate the humanist on the importance of God and importance of doing his will by discouraging abortion and preserving life.
