Imagine that you are looking at the world through travesty eyes. As you know, travesty have very different ways of thinking about sexuality than the dominant conceptualization in contemporary U.S.society. How would a travesty describe the assumptions that underlie the sexual scripts of the following categories: 1) women who challenge the good girl/bad girl divide: “charity girls”in early 20th-century New York AND Japanese “yellow cabs”; 2) U.S. teenagers as their parents see them as depicted in the book Not My Kid AND women and men as portrayed in U.S. popular magazines; 3) people whose identities do not line up with their behaviors: lesbians who have sex with men AND str8 white dudes who have sex with dudes. Keeping in mind what you know about social constructionist, what general conclusions can you draw about the forces that shape sexual scripts? (NOTE: Do not spend a lot of time describing how travesty see the world. Try to think from their perspective.) Please provide a strong and specific thesis statement. I will provide the sources which are needed. Take a position, make an argument, use evidence, and provide a brief citation (title or author last name in text) when referring to books and articles. If you quote directly, please be sure to also cite page number(s). Be sure to answer all parts of the question.
