FAMILY STRENGTH

FAMILY STRENGTH

Strength is a very important factor for all families and it determines the success or failure of many families (Smith, (2008). This is one thing that has kept me thinking a lot about my family and how my father manages to create and maintain the strong bond that we always have in the family. My father is a very strong, affectionate and a resilient man. He shows genuine interest and commitment to all activities the family engages in and finds the time for each one of us. He makes sure that all needs of the family are taken care of.
My father is my role model and I decided to interview him on what he does to ensure that he is successful in his role as a father and head of the family. The opportunity came recently as we were driving to the neighborhood basketball pitch to watch a game together. I asked him what it was that made him such a strong and resilient man. He told me that it is not that he just decided to be strong. It is the resolve to live up to the challenges of catering for the family and the support that he gets from us that gives him the courage to keep going and to stand out in times of difficulties. He told me that strength is about taking courage to face the most difficult situations, something that has been his standard practice as the head of the family.
He told me that he faces difficult and stressful situations and he can not just sit back and watch things unfold otherwise he would have nothing to call a family. He must work hard to find solutions to problems that the family may be faced with so that we may emerge stronger and happier. He revealed to me that contrary to what I had always thought, our family goes through difficult times; financially, socially and emotionally just like most families. He told me that he finds these difficult times very stressful and he finds the resolve to deal with such situations by drawing strength from the family and by being resilient. He advised that for the head of the family to find a solution for difficult situations, it calls for strong determination and resilience.

He saw happiness and strength for the family as the most important thing. These are the things that keep him working hard every day so as to meet his obligations to every member of the family. For this to happen, he said he ensures that he sets his priorities right, and the family is always number one on his list of priorities. He cautioned me that things were not as I always thought. It is a matter of being committed to the most basic things that keep the family going, strong and happy. Most families are facing difficult strains on money, time and emotions. To solve these problems, he said that he tries to balance between family, work and social life so that he can adequately cater for the family’s needs.
My father finds enough time to spend with us and he has always been available for me and all the other members of the family. I wondered how he would always manage to find the time to accompany me to basketball matches, sometimes up to four times a day. His response was that it was not that he did not have better things to do but rather he found time off his busy schedule to give me encouragement and company which make a person confident, caring and reliable. That is how he has always wanted me to grow up. He did this out of his commitment to see me grow up strong and happy as well as appreciate other people and their interests, just as I would expect from them.
He makes use of the rare opportunities that he gets for quality time and makes sure that he spends most of it with us as a family. He shared in my joys when my team won a match and shared in my sorrows by showing support and encouragement whenever I felt so down and defeated after we lost a match by patting me on the shoulder and telling me that life full of challenges characterized by wins and loses. As such, I should always be prepared for both so as to make it in life. He is a very loving and affectionate man, something that gives me courage and motivation in everything that I do.
Family values matter very much to him. He told me that he strives to practice and instill them to us so that we can be upright people when we grow up. He is flexible and open to change. He accommodates all our views and listens to all of us without interruptions. Through this, he has managed to constantly give us hope.
My father is very caring and appreciative. He uses his excellent communication skills to congratulate us whenever we do something good. He lifts our spirit by telling us that we have the potential to do better in the event of a dismal performance. Schoolwork and success in my studies are his main interest. He always insists that I should make an effort to be the best in my class so that I can improve my chances of securing a better life in future. He is usually clear in what he wants to tell any of us. He takes the time to listen to each one of us, just making positive comments and compliments for the good things that we do. He would buy me a present and give me a message of congratulations after winning a match.
He shows commitment to the family and concentrates mainly on things that make the family special. He insists on working together in hard times so that we can remain strong. He does not like criticizing family members whenever they go wrong but instead he offers a suggestion for improvement.
He advised me that in order to be a good father and member of the community, there are some things that I should always remember and practice; I should endeavor to ensure the strength and happiness of other people. For this to happen, I have to be flexible and open to change. I must ensure that I work together with my colleagues and show support and commitment to what we do as a team. It is valuable to make sure that I use good communication to all people so as to be well understood. I should be caring and appreciative to others.
I was not surprised by any of my father’s responses because I pretty
much know him and what he thinks and feels. His advice was valuable and helps better draw a clear picture of what I am to be when I get ready for society.  It was very valuable advice and it did not change my expectations of future family life as he had always made it clear what he expected of me. It will change my perception of the family in the sense that I am supposed to be a responsible member because it is the most important institution which determines the success of a man…………………….CLICK HERE TO ORDER FOR A FULLY RESEARCHED PAPER ON THIS TOPIC AND OTHER RELATED TOPICS FROM A PROFESSIONAL WRITER AT capitalessaywriting.com…………………………….
